UV Lights Methodology
Date: 9th April
In this shoot, I used neon paints with ultra violet lights, this meant that the paint was fluorescent and bright.
What Went Well: I think this shoot went well, I captured a variety of different photographs. I used created two different patterns on the model, as this meant I could capture a range of photographs. I directed my model to use different facial expressions and body language, as this helped to express emotions and mood. I think the use body language, such as turning the head down or to the side, worked well. In some photographs, the model used her hands and arms, I think this created great mood. For example, the hands up against the face, symbolises upset or feeling low. I used white latex gloves in some photographs, as these showed up more, I liked this as they glowed blue/white, this also added mood to my photographs.
I also like how the paints aren't too bright and powerful, in some photographs they are brighter than others, as I used less or more UV light.
I used a tripod in this shoot, this enabled me to keep the camera steady, I think this helped as it allowed me to capture sharp, clear photographs.
Even Better If: To make this shoot better, I could gather more models, so I have a variety of faces, as well as different patterns on the face. If I had more models, I could capture a photograph with all the models together, showing the different moods the UV paint expresses in one photograph. For example like this photograph by Ina Sotirova. If I did this shoot again I would try to create scenes on the models body, for example sunsets, as John Poppleton did. I would also consider surreal scenes.
I think I could also move the camera, to create double exposure, I think this could look interesting, with trails of light from the model.
