Light Orbs Methodology
Date: 19th April
Location: Fields that lead to Highsted Wood
WWW: I think this shoot went well, I like the location that I chose as it was lonely and isolated, I think this gave a nice effect to the photographs. I used a tripod to ensure the camera was kept still during long exposure photographs, this meant that the background was still, whilst I could capture the movement of the lights, creating a light orb. I think the photographs I captured were interesting because I had captured the silhouette of the trees. Although it was dark, due to the shutter being open 20 seconds, it had captured the sunset or the orange tones in the sky. I also like how the stars are captured, I think this gives extra detail to the photograph. This shoot also inspires me to try astrophotography if I did this again, I stars look interesting, and definitely give a nice detail to the photographs.
EBI: To improve this shoot, I could collect photographs from a range of different exciting and interesting locations, for example a beach, where the orb would reflect in the sea. I think another interesting way to capture light orbs would be at a location such as Brighton Pier, I would consider capturing photographs of the orb in between the fairground rides, I would do this at night, when it is dark. I think the light movement of the ride in the background of the orbs would look exciting and exhilarating. Another factor I would do differently would be to have a range of different fair lights to use, for example I could use multi-coloured lights or white lights. I would ensure the circular motions are consistent to capture a perfect circular light orb. This would look much more neat, meaning I would capture better photographs.
