There are 3 ways of light enetering a camera,
Aperture:
Aperture is a hole within the lens of a camera, of which light travels through. In photography aperture is expressed through f-numbers (for example f/5) This describes how open or closed the aperture is. A smaller f-number means a wider aperture which lets more light in, where as a larger f-number means a smaller aperture.
A small aperture means a little amount of light is let into the camera, however this means the photograph will have a blurry background.
There is also a setting on the camera called 'aperture priority' this is where you control the aperture more than the othes, so you are more focused on a certain point.
Shutter Speed:
Shutter speed is the amount of time a camera's shutter is open when taking a photograph. There are diffferent shutter speeds, ranging from bulb, 1/50, 1/125 to 1/4000. Bulb is slow, and you can choose how long the shutter is open for, where 1/4000 is fast.
A slow shutter speed is required with light trails, movement or motion.
ISO
ISO is the sensitivity of your camera available to light. The lower the number the more sensitive the camera is to the light, where as a higher number gives more sensitivity to your camera.
The number ranges from 100 to 1600.
100 ISO is sensitive (this is bright).
1600 is low as possible(dark).
